Truth be told, I’ve never been much a fan of pastels. Perhaps because many of them do nothing for my complexion, or perhaps it’s because I just find them a bit too cloying. You see, I’m a fan of elegant, vintage femininity, which means dabbling in pastels can be dangerous–after all, there’s nothing fashionable about suiting up like a child in her Easter Sunday best when you’re in your mid-twenties.
Oddly enough, though, I feel a little bit different about mint. It could be the color’s mod roots. Or maybe it’s just because wearing it makes me feel sweetly sophisticated–like a cool, mint julep. Either way, I’ve incorporated quite a bit of the color into my wardrobe over the last two years.
Now, aside from mint, one of this season’s big trends is monochrome outfitting–as in, wearing a single color head to toe. I will admit that in theory (or, at least, when you’re standing in your closet staring at all your clothes) this is a bit intimidating. One color, head to toe? That seem’s awfully intense… Which is why, ironically enough, I chose a pastel color for experimenting with this trend. I found that mint was just the amount of color to make a statement, without screaming for attention. Overall, I found the look to be perfectly sweet and sophisticated.
So what do you think? Mint makes a monochrome look a cinch, huh?

Answer: Very hard. That hard. ** Do not attempt this at home.)

Caught in the act!

I love this outfit. cute mani!
Thanks! And I may yet post a DIY for this mani–depending on whether or not I feel it’s ‘perfected’ so to speak!
i feel the same about pastels + mint. great styling- love the darker shade of the jacket, it really pulls it all together and keeps it from looking easter egg-ish.
