Enduring through winter in the Pacific Northwest isn’t always an easy endeavor. And it’s generally not very pleasant. January always comes abruptly, as the least wonderful time of the year (here) so hastily supplants the “most wonderful.” Regionally, we dive headlong into a mashup of rain, then cold, then more rain and finally a manic-depressive “spring,” which is never anticipated to arrive before mid-April.
It tends to take a toll on one’s energy and overall outlook on life. But, more manifestly, it takes a serious toll on our wardrobe choices. As we stand on the precipice of this long-haul winter, I feel like a marathoner preparing for a run. This isn’t New York. Staying inspired (and dressing that way) over the next three months will be a significant challenge. One that we must take in stride. But here, today, at the outset, I’m saying: bring it on, winter. I will conquer you with layers of functional fashion and a repository of advanced footwear. You will not best me this time, you nasty beast!
Will you join me in this daring challenge? Our solidarity lends us strength. I vow to do my best to keep you inspired. I hope this look is a good start…

You are such a fabulous writer Erin!! Even though fashion is nowhere near my comfort zone (haha) I love your looks!
L.O.V.E these pants and yes, I feel the same way, trying to come up with a feminine, functional and fantastic outfit during this NW winter is a challenge, so thank you for the motivation!
Hi Nicole, thanks for your comment! It would appear that Zara sold out of this specific pant, but they are just wax coated ( that’s why they look shiny) and I know you can find similar products at Zara, though Piperlime.com also has a decent selection when it comes to that trend.
I agree that fashion & function during our NW winter is really tough for me. Thanks for the pep talk Erin!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Hopefully Sarah and I can help you to stay motivated all season!
